Our History
Originally published monthly in the Four County Catholic between June 2021 and February 2022 this series of Catholic Charities milestones is a glimpse of the help and hope given to our sisters and brothers in need, throughout Eastern Connecticut, since its inception more than 100 years ago. At that time, much like today, Connecticut was recovering from a war and the effects of a global pandemic. Children, widows, the elderly, and the handicapped all needed the help that organized social services could provide.
We owe a special debt of gratitude to Jacqueline Keller, Retired Diocesan Director of Communications and Board Member of Norwich Diocesan Catholic Charities for her labor of love in researching, gathering the photos, and writing this series.
Many thanks to all the people who have helped throughout the last hundred years. Click on the tile titled The Future to see how you can become a part of our legacy.
We want this to be as complete and accurate a record as possible so please send additions, corrections, and any photos you would like to share to Communications@NorwichDiocese.net by March 30, 2022.
