Catholic Charities Behavioral Health Clinic is committed to providing quality, cost effective, health care services to all who seek help, regardless of religious affiliation.  Behavioral Health Services address problems related to substance use disorders, psychiatric and mental disorders for individuals, families and couples through Individual, Couple, Family and Group Therapy.

Comprehensive Outpatient Services:

  • Psychiatric Evaluations and consultation
  • Medication Assessments
  • 24-hour crisis intervention

Further Specialized Treatment Programs:

  • Adult and Adolescent Substance Abuse
  • Co-occurring Disorders Treatment -- Family/Couples Therapy
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • All treatment services are provided in a trauma informed environment

Qualifications & Accreditation

  • Clinical staff are trained in a variety of evidenced based therapeutic techniques used to address issues such as family conflict, depression, anxiety, substance use, suicidal impulses, trauma, low self-esteem, and grief”. 
  • Granted Enhanced Care Clinic status in 2008, and continues to be a licensed and accredited behavioral health clinic
  • Member of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) Southeastern Connecticut services provider network since 2006
  • Fully licensed by the Department of Public Health to provide outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse services
  • Credentialed Project Safe Provider

NORWICH:

Depression: (ongoing group)

Group offers a safe and accepting place for clients to vent frustrations and fears while receiving comfort and encouragement from other participants and facilitator. Facilitator and participants share about various coping skills that others may find useful.

Schedule of group: Tuesdays from 5- 6pm
Age/Gender: 25 and up /Co-ed

MIDDLETOWN:

Wellness: (8 week group)

Group teaches various coping skills for example Deep-Breathing to alleviate symptoms of Anxiety. Group will help clients practice Stretching to Ease symptoms of stress and depression. Group will teach about healthy lifestyle choices and healthy habits including food choices, Importance of Rest, Positive Affirmations to help heal trauma.

Seeking Safety Groups: (8 week group)

For those with PTSD & Substance Abuse. The group covers 24 different skills topics to help you learn safe & effective coping skills. Information is shared in a supportive and nonjudgmental way.

Relapse Prevention Group: (ongoing group)

Group facilitated in a way that helps clients understand relapse as a process, identify and cope effectively with high-risk situations, cope with urges and craving, implement damage control procedures during a lapse to minimize its negative consequences, stay engaged in treatment even after a relapse, and learn how to create a more balanced lifestyle.

Age/Gender: 20 -35 /Co-Ed

Children’s Social Skills Group: (8 weeks)

Group teaches children how to interact appropriately with other children their age. Group will help children learn conversational, friendship and problem-solving skills.
