Susan Connelly has been appointed Chief Operations Officer of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich, Inc. by the Most Reverend Michael R. Cote. Ms. Connelly joined Catholic Charities in 2016 as Finance Director. In January 2020, she oversaw the operations of the organization, as Interim Executive Director, while maintaining her duties as Finance Director. Since taking the helm, Susan successfully guided the conclusion of the Behavioral Health Program and implemented the new Catholic Charities Board of Directors approved Intensive Case Management Program model, while modifying operations to ensure that the agency could deliver its services without interruption during the pandemic.
Ms. Connelly announced the addition of Reverend Brian C. Maxwell to the Catholic Charities team. Father Maxwell was appointed by Bishop Cote on October 1. He joins Catholic Charities in the newly created role of Outreach Coordinator.
“Father Brian will focus on building relationships across the parishes and in our communities. He will bring awareness of the mission of Catholic Charites as an active presence representing the agency in New London, Middlesex, Tolland and Windham counties,” Connelly said.
Father Maxwell comes to Catholic Charities from his most recent assignments as parochial vicar at St. Matthias Church in East Lyme and St. Agnes Church in Niantic. Father Maxwell was ordained in 2015.

With this restructuring and the continued support of the community, Catholic Charities will be able to continue its rich history of service to people of all faiths of New London, Middlesex, Tolland and Windham Counties.
